Physiological and Biochemical Mechanisms of Exogenous Calcium Chloride on Alleviating Salt Stress in Two Tartary Buckwheat (Fagopyrum tataricum) Varieties Differing in Salinity Tolerance

چکیده
Salt stress is one of the most serious abiotic stresses limiting plant growth and development. Calcium as an essential nutrient element important signaling molecule plays role in ameliorating adverse effect salinity on plants. This study aimed to investigate impact exogenous calcium improving salt tolerance Tartary buckwheat cultivars, cv. Xinong9920 (salt-tolerant) Xinong9909 (salt-sensitive). Four-week-old seedlings under 100 mM NaCl were treated with without chloride (CaCl2), Ca2+ chelator ethylene glycol tetraacetic acid (EGTA) Ca2+-channel blocker lanthanum (LaCl3) for 10 days. Then, some physiological biochemical indexes determined. The results showed that significantly reduced seedling growth, decreased photosynthetic pigments, inhibited antioxidants antioxidant enzyme activities. However, it increased reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels two cultivars. Exogenous CaCl2 application salt-stressed obviously mitigated negative effects partially restored growth. Ca2+-treated diplayed a suppressed accumulation ROS, contents total chlorophyll, soluble protein, proline antioxidants, elevated activities enzymes compared alone. On contrary, addition 0.5 LaCl3 5 EGTA exhibited opposite those treatment. These indicate can enhance supplementation may be effective practice cultivate saline soils.

متن کاملEffect of drought stress on yield, chlorophyll contents and photosynthesis in tartary buckwheat (Fagopyrum tataricum)
Drought stress is one of the major abiotic stresses in agriculture worldwide. This study was carried out to investigate the effect of drought stress on chlorophyll content, photosynthesis and transpiration, stomatal conductance and yield characteristics in two varieties of tartary buckwheat (Fagopyrum tataricum). A pot experiment with three irrigation regimes was carried out in a split-plot blo...
متن کاملDe Novo Assembly and Analysis of Tartary Buckwheat (Fagopyrum tataricum Garetn.) Transcriptome Discloses Key Regulators Involved in Salt-Stress Response
Soil salinization has been a tremendous obstacle for agriculture production. The regulatory networks underlying salinity adaption in model plants have been extensively explored. However, limited understanding of the salt response mechanisms has hindered the planting and production in Fagopyrum tataricum, an economic and health-beneficial plant mainly distributing in southwest China. In this stu...
متن کاملDiscovery and genetic analysis of non-bitter Tartary buckwheat (Fagopyrum tataricum Gaertn.) with trace-rutinosidase activity
In a screening of about 500 lines of Tartary buckwheat, we identified lines that contained no detectable rutinosidase isozymes using an in-gel detection assay. We confirmed that seeds of these individuals had only a trace level of in-vitro rutinosidase activity. To investigate the heritability of the trace-rutinosidase characteristic, we analyzed the progeny of crosses between rutinosidase trac...
متن کاملGenetic analyses of agronomic traits in Tartary buckwheat (Fagopyrum tataricum (L.) Gaertn.)
The consumption of products made from Tartary buckwheat (Fagopyrum tataricum (L.) Gaertn.) has increased in recent years in Japan. Increased consumer demand has led to recognition of the need for early varieties of this crop with high and stable yields. In order to accomplish this, more information is needed on the genetic mechanisms affecting earliness and yield. We conducted genetic analysis ...
